Obituary for Javier Silva Rivera
Javier Silva Rivera, age 73, of West Springfield passed away surrounded by loved ones on March 20th, 2023.
Javier is survived by his wife, Margarita Silva; his children, Javier Silva, Rosalía Silva, Haley Silva, Johnny Velez, Eduardo Velez, Abigail Velez, Angel Velez, Charles Velez, and Manuel Velez; their spouses; as well as many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Javier was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico on June 21, 1949. He attended grade school on the island before moving to Westfield, MA at the age of 15. He married Margarita in Springfield, MA on July 25th, 1987. He worked as a Machine Operator at RockTenn for 22 years.
He lived in the Springfield area throughout most of his adult life, and enjoyed fishing, dancing, listening to his favorite music and Yankees games, and spending time with his family. He was known by many names to his loved ones - Daddy, Papo, Pops, Nito, Welo - and he fulfilled the roles of father, grandfather, and husband with immense pride. His cheerful personality, love for singing and telling stories, and dimpled smile will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
Calling hours for Javier will be held on Thursday, March 30th, 2023, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, at North End Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 130 Carew Street Springfield, MA 01104.
Funeral services will also be held at North End Funeral Home & cremation Services, on Friday, March 31st, 2023, from 9:00 AM-10:00 AM with the burial immediately following at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA.

Javier es sobrevivido por su esposa, Margarita Silva; sus hijos, Javier Silva, Rosalía Silva, Haley Silva, Johnny Velez, Eduardo Velez, Abigail Velez, Angel Velez, Charles Velez, y Manuel Velez; sus esposas; así como muchos nietos y bisnietos cariñosos.
Javier nació en Fajardo, Puerto Rico, el 21 de junio de 1949. Asistió a la escuela primaria en la isla antes de mudarse a Westfield, MA a la edad de 15. Se casó con Margarita en Springfield, MA el 25 de julio de 1987. Trabajó como operador de máquinas en RockTenn durante 22 años.
Vivió en la área Springfield durante la mayor parte de su vida adulta, y disfrutó de la pesca, el baile, escuchar su música favorita y los juegos de los Yankees, y pasar tiempo con su familia. Sus seres queridos lo conocían por muchos nombres - Papi, Papo, Pops, Nito, Welo - y desempeñaba los papeles de padre, abuelo y marido con inmenso orgullo.
