Obituary for Luis D. Rodriguez

Springfield- Luis D. Rodriguez, 38, passed away on Dec. 2. Luis was born in Spfld., MA on Oct. 20 to Demetrio and Juana M. (Santiago) Rodriguez. He graduated from Central High School in 1994. He grew up wanting to be just like his dad. Seventeen years ago he proudly became a fire fighter, and history was made as he and his father were the first minority father/son team in the city. He was completely devoted to his career and family. He leaves behind his parents, 2 beautiful daughters, Quiana and Nyla Rodriguez, both from Spfld., his sister, Johanna Rodriguez Perez; 2 nephews, Jalen Cotto and Xavier Torres; 5 aunts, 2 uncles, many cousins and friends. He will be remembered as a funny man with a great smile, but most of all a hero! The Calling Hours will be Tues., Dec. 9, from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Greek Cultural Center, 22 St. George St., Spfld. The Funeral Services will be on Wed., Dec. 10, from 9 - 10 a.m. at Greek Cultural Center followed by Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Luis D. Rodriguez Memorial Fund at the Greater Spfld Credit Union, 1030 Wilbraham Rd., Spfld., MA 01109.
